The qualifying rounds are held at Melbourne Park from Wednesday 9 January to Saturday 12 January. Entry is free with gates opening at 9:30 am each day. This event is also live-streamed with full broadcast and commentary, including crosses to the official draw on Friday 11 January.
Kids Tennis Day
Kids Tennis Day will be held at Garden Square, Melbourne Park on Saturday 12 January 2013. The special lead-up event will be full of tennis-related activities and exciting kids entertainment.
See the stars of yesteryear during the expanded women's legends event including former Australian Open champions Amelie Mauresmo and Lindsay Davenport along with Martina Hingis and Martina Navratilova. In the men's event, Pat Cash, Henri Leconte and Mansour Bahrami will also liven up the tennis court.

The 2013 Australian Open Junior Championships are held on 19–26 January. This tournament is open to both Australian and international athletes and includes singles and doubles events. Both the junior boys' and girls' singles finals will be played at Rod Laver Arena on Saturday 26 January from 1 pm. A ground pass will provide access to these finals.
The Optus Australian Open Wheelchair Championships returns for Australian Open 2013 and features eight of the world's top men, eight of the world's top women and four of the world's top quad players. The event starts on 23 January and finishes with the men's, women's and quad singles finals on 26 January.
Australian Tennis Hall of Fame Induction
Australian women's tennis pioneer Judy Dalton will be inducted into the Australian Tennis Hall of Fame during a special ceremony on women's semifinal Thursday (24 January 2013) where Dalton will unveil a bronze bust in her likeness at Rod Laver Arena. This will join the statues of other Australian Tennis Hall of Fame inductees in Melbourne Park's Garden Square.
Kia Fan of the Day
Every day throughout the tournament Kia will be looking for the most enthusiastic fan at Melbourne Park, one during the day session and one during the night session. Look out for the Kia Fan of the Day team and get your photo taken for a chance to be the Kia Fan of the Day and win great prizes.
Federation Square live site
The Australian Open Live Site is back at Federation Square in 2013.
Catch all the live tennis action on the big screen daily from 11:00 am, and enjoy the many tennis and sponsor activities on offer.
